Concept for Life Mum & Young Kittens is a complete dry cat food formulated for pregnant and lactating queens and for kittens aged 6 weeks to 4 months. The recipe is chicken-based and sugar-free, and it is made in Germany.

What's in it

The main protein sources are chicken protein (partly dried and hydrolysed, 32.3%) and fresh chicken meat (14%), alongside 14.6% rice, maize protein and poultry fat. Extras include 0.5% bovine colostrum, chicory inulin, yeast cell walls and 0.05% algae meal rich in DHA. Energy per kg ME (FEDIAF, 2021): 17.52 MJ / 4187 kcal.

Analytical constituents: protein 36%, fat 22%, fibre 2.5%, ash 8.2%, calcium 1.25%, phosphorus 1.05%, magnesium 0.09%, sodium 0.45%, omega-3 fats 1.08%, omega-6 fats 4.47%.

Why the formula is built this way

According to the manufacturer, the fat and protein content is adapted to the energy needs of queens during pregnancy and nursing. A vitamin and antioxidant complex, colostrum and prebiotics are included to help support the body's own defences. Kittens get small kibble, and higher vitamin D3 with a balanced calcium to phosphorus ratio for bones and teeth. Easily digested protein combined with rice is aimed at optimum digestibility.

Feeding guide

Weigh kittens regularly and split the daily amount over several meals. Kittens aged 6 to 8 weeks should first be offered the food in soaked form, as a supplement, and then moved gradually to dry food. Lactating queens may be fed ad libitum.
